In the '70s and' 80s the discipline of Project Management, at least in Italy, was still considered pioneering, usable by large organizations and applicable only to programs / projects of great economic importance and high temporal criticality.

During the 1990s, thanks to its proven effectiveness and pressure from US administrations, Project Management quickly spread and became a new discipline in engineering. A further contribution came from the diffusion of computers and their processing power and, subsequently, from the potential offered by the web.

Since the 80s a new market has been established linked to consulting services, training and specialized services, as well as activities for the implementation of support software systems. The market related to Project Management activities reveals a further growth trend.

Parallel to the evolution of the market, the Piemme Group's customer base has also evolved, incorporating categories (banks, public administrations, major events) initially unrelated to the discipline.
